The week of July 27th

We found our background music and we finished the recording. Greg's working on everything else. Sam put everyone's faces on planets in Celestia. We found some more background information. We're putting everyone in the credits.

Where does light come from?

Well today is July 8th. Dismiss the fact that on the last blog Sam said it was Monday even though it was Wednesday. He claims he traveled back in time. Today we worked on shortening the scripts and reorganizing our video. We came up with some cool new ideas and it looks promising. We discussed using the rhetorical question "Where does light come from?" We lost some members due to their other obligations, but we are persevering. Keep tuning in. Peace.

Summer 09'

Today is Monday, June 29th. It is officially the start of our summer session here at RIT. After Imagine RIT we reevaluated our situation and where we wanted to take the project. Through discussions we decided to continue our project and improve it. Although with varying summer schedules of group members we continue to find time on Mondays and Wednesdays 2-4 to work on the video. We began by first visualizing what we want our video to look, sound, smell, etc. like. Our next step is a revision of our scripts. Keep following the Journey! Peace.

May 10th

ok so we havent really commented on this in a while, but i'll just talk about the past few weeks now. Imagine RIT was last week, so we were able to show off our movie to more people than just our group!! For us this meant intense work on April 26th and even more work the rest of the week, in order to get stuff 100% working and ready to go! It's not the best it could be, but it ran smoothly at imagine rit, and weare now able to fix it to be more of what we want it to be. Today we are foocusing on making what we have better and noting thhe parts that could definately use some work. We pulled it off for imagine RIT, now we just need to make it the best it can be!

HAPPY EASTER!

Uhhhh....so today is Easter. The day we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. En el nombre del padre, y su hijo, y el Espiritu Santo. Amen.

No, but seriously we are lacking people today. We are still working hard and pushing forward. Time is running out and there are doubts that we will not finish. Screw that. We will finish.

We are currently turning our scripts into Celestia scripts. We will be ready by Imagine RIT on Saturday, May 2nd.

Thank you for your support.

March 29th

Since we didnt write last week i'll update for then too. Last week we successfully worked through the scripting for the planets and galaxies, making it so that it can run in celestia! Today we took that scipt and put the narration in, in order to make the captions on the video. Also we began to work on the scripting for the black hole section and the formation of a star part. For now we are focusing on getting th general video down. Other objects and script revisions need to be made, but the rough video is beginning to take shape!

March 15th

Today we split up to work on diferent parts of creating the movie. Brad and Josh worked on learning the sound editting for the movie, eliminating the backround noices that could occur. The rest of us worked on celestia and its scripting/ creating new objects. Overall it was a successful 3hr day!!

March 1st

Today we started writing scripts for Celestia and learning the scripting language. We focused on learning the .CEL version, but decided that .CELX is the better option. Next week will will focus on learning the language for .CELX and then hopefuly we will be able to move forward in creating scripts for our actual movie! Also we are going to write, in general, what commands we need to use in order to view our video the way we want it to be viewed.

Feb 22, 2009

Today, we met with Greg who will be our new project corrdinator starting after break. We presented to him what we have been doing and where we are now in the process, and allowed him to ask us any questions he had for us. After sharing our thoughts an hearing his we feel like he could definately help us move in the right direction to making the video.

Well, it's been a while......February 15

We have made a considerable amount of progress since September. We decided to split the video into different segments: formation of a star, interstellardust, black holes, stars and galaxies, and detectors. For each part we have written scipts to go along with the pictures we want to see in thevideo. Having written the scripts we then had to bring them to James to get them looked over. While meeting with him we dicussed the weak parts of our scripts and how they could be made better in order to maximize the amount ot knowledge the audience is able to take away. After everone met with him, we all came together to talk about what we had learned from James and exactly what, if anything, needed to be changed in each of our scripts. Once they were to a point where they were well written and ready to go, we recorded our scripts in their full entirety and played them along with a powerpoint fit for the cube. While doing this we were able to hear the parts of our scripts that might not work and see them visually alongsidethe pictures of what we hope to see in our final animation. This allowed us to focus in on the parts that didnt work and build on them to get them up to the standards we wanted to meet. Since then we have all changed our scripts numerous times in order to make them stronger, and are now to a point where they are ready to get looked over for scientific correctness.
Aside from scripts we have made great progress in learning the programming also. At the start we were striving to learn luster and flash, hoping that these programs would bring success in the end, but we soon found out that they were going to take a lot longer then expected, and wouldnt work for what we wanted to use them for. Realizing this we quickly made a group decision to switch to Celestia which would allow us to make our video in an efficient way. Having made this decision we all downloaded Celestia on our own time and have began learning the sripting language and how to work the program. Though we might have to make some objects along the way, Celestia has everything already in it and is pretty much ready for us to put ou scripting in and get our video going. Its taken us a while to get to where we are now, but we've definately made great progress and its clear in our work.
